What causes false alarms?
- Unlocked or loose doors and windows
- Use of incorrect keypad codes
- Kids, neighbors, relatives, repairmen entering the home without being aware of the security system
- Balloons, curtains, or rotating holiday decorations moving in front of motion detectors
How can I avoid false alarms?
- Make sure everyone who has a key to your home/business knows how to operate the alarm system
- Make sure doors and windows are closed and locked before arming your alarm system
- Periodically test your alarm system as recommended in your owners manual
- Call us if you: change your phone number, need to update your call list, plan to remodel, get a pet, plan to move from your home/business, or need to test your alarm system.
What if I accidentally set off my alarm?
- Don’t panic. Using your keypad, disarm your system by carefully entering your security code + “off”.
- Call the monitoring center to let them know it was a false alarm - or wait on location until they call you.
- Reset your alarm system by entering your master code + “off”. The system may now be used as normal.
Human error is responsible for nearly 80% of false alarms
